Farewell to Scooter

If you’ve been following my blog or known me for very long, you’ll know our dog Scooter.

We adopted Scooter from the Denver Dumb Friends League in 2007. At the time, doctors estimated him to be about 3 years old. We had lost our other dog, Lucky, the year before to cancer.

When I first met Scooter, I thought he was going to drive me crazy. Our son Matthew, a middle-schooler at the time, picked him out. I was skeptical. He was always getting out the door and running away and just seemed too energetic compared to Lucky. However, he and I soon became best friends. When Darlene and I left Colorado on our journey, we knew Scooter was getting old, but were glad to have him travel with us as long as he could.

Scooter’s age caught up with him in July. In early July, we had the vet check him out to see if there was anything besides his age that was causing him to have difficulty. The fact is he was about 16 years old and his time was up. Scooter passed away on July 31, 2020. We made the decision to have him put down because he had gotten to where he couldn’t walk and was very uncomfortable.

We miss him.

Here are a few photos in his memory.
