The blogging begins!

SITE LAUNCHED – Feb. 14, 2017 – including this site, a LinkedIn page, Facebook page, Twitter account, email account, with plans on adding a Thinkific course site and a YouTube channel, and possible other accounts later.

I’ve just created this site at the outset of plans for a new adventure. I’ll introduce myself a bit later in time, but for right now let’s just say that I’m the owner of The Watchmaker’s Pulse. This site and the related content is a work in progress and I’m going “live” just to have a forum for experimentation. I don’t anticipate the site and related content to be fully fleshed out until early 2018. Read my About page to learn more about the story behind the name.

I called it an adventure because I’m embarking now on what I hope will be true adventure, rather than just ending as a dream. My wife and I are considering heading out on a full-time RV lifestyle during my retirement. One caveat, though, is that we don’t even own an RV yet!

As we move in this direction, though, I’m developing ideas now for how we might interface with this website and upcoming related content. I was reading this morning from Exodus 39-40 and Numbers 9 about Moses inspecting the completion of the year-long work  on the tabernacle, and God’s blessing on that work and His use of the tabernacle to both lead and interact with His people.

This got me to thinking about the plans we’re making. God willing, and following His leadership, the current state of the plan is to continue making preparations for the journey ahead with an embarkation date approximately a year from now. Downsizing, retiring, planning, etc…. all still a work in progress.

One element of the plan involves this blog. While I’m still working in my current career and making plans for the future, my blogging (which is a very new experience for me right now) is planned to trace the unfolding of this adventure, but more importantly, to link the events and progress of the adventure to God’s activity in and through our lives. Hence the name “The Watchmaker’s Pulse”. It is my hope that this pulse will be felt through my writing and through other upcoming content and through the potential future that is headed our way!

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24)
