Back in January I told you about my son’s pneumonia and lung surgery. He has fully recovered now, and one thing I didn’t write about was that we had an early January family cruise vacation planned that we ended having to cancel. But thanks to the recommendation of our travel expert (David!!) we had purchased travel insurance and received a full refund. We were then able to turn around and use that same money to purchase the identical cruise which we took the week before Easter. This is just a quick synopsis of that trip.
We all boarded Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas on March 28 to sail for Nassau, Bahamas. Here’s the 5 of us at the end of the cruise with our ship behind us.

It’s been nine years since we’ve been on a cruise and interestingly, we were on this same ship nine years ago. It has been remodeled some since then but is wearing her age very well.

Darlene and I had an oceanview cabin. We were just above water level so it gave us a nice horizon to watch. Our travel agent provided some door decorations in honor of our 40th anniversary. We rented an electric scooter for Darlene to use and were able to park it at the foot of the bed overnight.

We spent most of our time just chilling out and relaxing on the ship. Good food, good entertainment venues and good lounge areas both inside and out.

As I said, Darlene and I mainly stayed on the ship, but we did manage to go ashore in Jamaica and on Royal Caribbean’s private island, Coco Cay.

It was so nice to be able to get away with our kids and relax a little. I’m looking forward to another cruise soon!
