Happy New Year to all of you!
If you’ve been following my blog at all you’ll remember that at the beginning of December I talked about my job at the California Trail Interpretive Center coming to an end. Well, as of Monday, January 4, I will begin another job at that same location that is scheduled to last for all of 2021. I’ll fundamentally be doing the same job (visitor interpretation and guide), but rather than being employed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) I’ll be working for the Southern Nevada Conservancy (SNC).
The BLM and SNC share joint operations for the Trail Center. SNC is a 501 c3 non-profit organization that is specifically responsible for retail sales in the gift shop, but also provides program support. They were partnered with the BLM from the beginning of the Trail Center and provided design leadership and funding for much of the interpretive displays there. They also support interpretive services and retail operations at 2 southern Nevada sites – Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, and Spring Mountains National Recreation Area.
I’m excited for the opportunity that SNC has provided for me to continue working at the Trail Center!
Congrats!
