Travel Log 3/8/2019

I thought I’d give a short update on where we are. We are about done with five days on Galveston Island at Galveston Island State Park in Texas. It’s been cool and rainy for some of the time, but we’ve still enjoyed relaxing and getting back to our travel routine.

We are camped on the “Bay” side of the island.

The back-in sites are all set up around a loop. The sites on the gulf (ocean) side have individual covered picnic tables, but the ocean is not visible because of the intervening dunes.

Next week we’ll be in Louisiana exploring the Lake Charles and New Orleans areas for about 10 days.

Here’s a bit of additional news: I’ve accepted a job as a seasonal park ranger at North Springfield Lake in southern Vermont. I start on May 13 and will work there through Labor Day, so we’ll be spending our summer months exploring New England!

  1. It’s a good time of year to be at the Gulf (“Third Coast”). Glad to see Darlene walking around.
