I haven’t updated you lately on Darlene’s progress. We are settled in an RV park in Florida during her recovery. She is seeing a wound care specialty group now. They have placed her on a Wound Vac system which she will wear all the time until the wound makes progress. After one week of being on the machine, the wound has already started making amazing progress. Basically, her leg did not have sufficient circulation in the wound area, which caused the tissue to die during her cellulitis infection. A sponge is placed inside the wound (which is about 1 inch by 2 inches and 1/4 inch deep). Then, tape is applied to seal the rest of the area around the sponge, and more tape applied over the sponge to seal it into the wound. A vacuum tube then punctures the sponge and the machine applies a constant negative pressure to the sponge. This creates a vacuum effect a draws blood from within her body into the wound, allowing the healing process to take over. She’ll wear the system 24/7 until the wound is able to finish healing unassisted. You can read more about this technology here.
Thank you for your continued prayers!
I’ve been down that road twice. I’m glad it’s working for her. Hope you’re enjoying your new location.
